Future Progressive Tense

• ex. This time next year I'll be walking down Broadway.

This sentence uses Future Progressive in order to express an activity that will be in progress at the time here introduced by the adverbial phrase 'this time next year'.The grammar of this sentence conveys two main ideas-futurity and duration.Without the concept of duration Future Simple would be used,like for example: This time next year I'll give up smoking.

• ex.They will be playing in the park until 7 o'clock.

This sentense expresses an activity in progress that started at the present moment or at some time around the present moment.

• ex. They will be making decisions on the future of the company, the sort of product lines it should develop, how it should face up to the competition,whether it should diversify etc.

This usage of Future Progresive is quite subtle and difficult to define.It introduces an event that is certain and will happen naturally.When future trends, developments and tendencies are predicted or defined the grammar tense to be used is Future Progressive.

• ex.When will you be arriving in town?

This is a very polite way of asking about the future.
It can be considered rude to ask about samobody's intentions or future plans unless they concern both speakers.This sentence implies that the arriving in town is something that will happen naturally thus freeing the sentence from the risk of interfering in somebody else's affairs.

No other way of expressing future gives such tentative and tactful aspect.
