E.2. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH

The main objectives of the project are following:

  1. To organize direct connection to European academic telematic networks and ITERNET in Sofia (Bulgaria), Kaunas (Lithuania), and Kiev (Ukraine) (???10 wrking places in each country).
  2. Develop model for lifelong, Flexible, and Distance Learning (FDL) in communication and information technologies and English language teacher training.
  3. To adapt educational pre-normalization & standards for CEE and NIS countries for telematics and software on CIT and CALL.
  4. Create CIT and CALL software and ensure its value in the field within EC and CEE countries' culture and language, as well as to develop the teaching of English as a foreign language.
  5. Develop and disseminate a modular teacher training course in communication and information technologies to support teachers who teach natural sciences and humanities in CEE and NIS countries (???the modular course will consist of 8-10 modules, and each module will take from 10 to 40 hours).
  6. Establish and support teachers who teach English as a foreign language in CEE and NIS countries as a case study in the application of telematics networks and services to flexible and distance learning (????).
