IST Requalification of Disabled Persons

THE PROJECT

The project aims to the establishment of sustainable system of the re-qualification in information technologies, inclusive generation of ODL training materials, which will become a part of the rehabilitation process. The results of similar project of Kaunas Technical University, Lt, will be utilised in the project too. The needs of the market will be identified by the market study and the variety of modular courses will be discussed with the various level of requirements (to meet different aspirations of disabled persons), leading either to the certified courses, or diploma courses. The pilot courses will be delivered to the persons who undergo the process of healing and rehabilitation under the supervision of the physicians, and some recommendation on the training regime will be derived and presented as an annex to the training materials. It is expected that the courses will be delivered on the not-for-profit basis for disabled persons and for-profit basis for the other clients, and a part of the profit generated will be used to create the system of permanent updating and extending of the training materials.

The specific conditions of the support of the work will be discussed with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in each country (subsidies to the computer equipment for the disabled persons, subsidies to the Internet connection, tax regime, contribution to the costs of delivery of the courses, etc.)

The experience with the system will be disseminated along 2 lines: among specialists for healing and rehabilitation process, inclusive paper at some international conference, and offer of the re-qualification courses via associations of disabled persons, both in the project partner countries and abroad.

The training materials will be evaluated both by the process of internal evaluation at each relevant University (Scientific Council, confirming that course level meets the requirements of University), and of external evaluation by the IFOA, It, a recognised European training organisation.

The system will be open to other countries access and utilisation for the small fee representing the effort invested to the project by the project partners. The fee will be utilised for the further development of the system.

The aim of the project is to fight against the social exclusion of the impaired persons unable to go on in their original work carrier, by offering them the full life and work perspective which does not require the regular attending the work office.
