Famous Russian Painters - Isaak Ilyich Levitan (1860-1900)

Isaak Ilyich Levitan (1860-1900) is known as the poet of the Russian landscape. He continued and developed the traditions of his predecessors, painters of the Russian realist school who embodied themes of Russian life in their landscapes.

A master of landscapes, Levitan did not introduce figures into it, but each picture was permeated with some deep human feeling.
