On companies' attentionNature of the programThe MSc in Information Systems program of Stevens Institute of Technology (www.stevens.edu) is being offered and organized in Bulgaria, jointly with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University “St. Ul. Ohridski” since 2005. The program is mainly oriented towards the management of modern computer information systems and leads to a Masters diploma of Stevens Institute. The program allows attendance of separate courses, depending on the interest of the student or its sponsoring organization. Target audienceThe program is designed primarily having in mind the needs of working experts in IT, aspiring for leading positions in their field. In view of the tight time schedules of these experts, the program includes a minimum number of classes, mainly after working hours. Class sessions are conducted in two consecutive periods “Friday afternoon, Saturday & Sunday”, once every six months. The remaining contacts between students and tutors take place via the Internet. Curriculum and teaching staffThe curriculum includes 12 subjects, each lasting six weeks. Seven of these (with management orientation) are delivered by American professors and five (with computer orientation) – by Bulgarian professors. The program is staffed by highly qualified experts with a long standing practical and teaching experience. The Stevens team is lead by Dr. Jerry Luftman – a Distinguished Professor at Stevens and a former CIO of IBM. Leader of the Bulgarian team is academician Prof. Dr. Kiril Boyanov. Stevens Institute of TechnologyStevens Institute of Technology, founded in 1870, is ranked in the top five of the leading technological universities in the US, offering educational programs and corporate training in information technology management, along with MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford University and Babson College. Stevens is also among the universities accredited by the Project Management Institute to give its world-wide recognized certificates in project management. Two modes of studyingAlong with its year and a half full degree program, MSIS offers possibilities for attending separate subjects, depending on the specific interests of students or their sponsoring firms.
