National strategy for information technology education has been accepted. The ambitious programme will be realized for a period of 6 years
A college of the Ministry of Education and Science accepted a National Educational Strategy on Information and Communication Technologies /ICT/. It's open for further changes, according to the society needs and the progress of the new technologies. A large topic in it are the integrated forms of education. They are aiming at integrating the informatics and ICT classes as a non-separable part of the education, but not as something additional. This strategy defines the national standard, i.e. the minimum required knowledge on ICT.

The meeting took place during the hi-tech forum, where it became clear that there is a need for a wider discussion on the problems about the high technologies. The discussion topics were divided in three directions: society problems, administration problems and business problems. The meeting was estimated highly as a good constructive beginning, and the participants expressed hope that future meetings will involve more specific discussions. The business participants were pleased by the immediate dialogue with the state.

IT Council has already been established in the state administration
The Programme Council for development and management of a long term programme for applying effective information and management technologies and staff education has been established. The decision of the Council of Ministers indicates that a growing of an awareness has started in the state about the importance of IT for its correct functioning.

Bulgarian art gallery on the Internet
Gallery-club "PAVELA" not only exhibits pieces of art, but also uses the latest technologies for popularizing the Bulgarian artists' works. Most of the exhibits are shot with a digital camera by way of which a more realistic impression about the pieces of art is created. In the gallery you may obtain copies of the catalogues on CD-ROM. The auction for conceptions about the Bulgarian information society has ended
12 teams were competing for the state errand. The final project will be prepared on the basis of analysis of each of the 23 primary areas by the team, lead by Nelly Ognianova — director of the Bulgarian Institute for Law development. Among the areas, defined as primary, are the telecommunications, IT, state and local administration, health keeping, education, culture, finance, law system, etc. After 21 September the project will be a subject to public debate, before being put forward to the Ministry Council.

From the bottom to the top of Europe — Bulgaria can do it
The future belongs to the electronic business, says Dietrich Ryosner, general manager in IBM for Central Europe and Russia. On a special interview before PC Week BG Mr. Dietrich Ryosner expressed an opinion on the market development in our country. He emphasized the clear changes having taken place during the last months and especially the hi-tech forum /29.06 — 1.07/ as an example a development in a highly right direction. Mr. Ryosner also gave a very high praise of the existing traditions in Bulgaria, the accumulated knowledge and highly educated specialists — the most important components that are necessary for the success.
