Communication Workers' Union (CWU)

The Communications Workers’ Union represents approximately 20,000 members working in the communications industry in Ireland. The CWU has in excess of 1000 members working in call centres and has extensive experience in dealing with call centre employers on issues such as organisation of work, training, recruitment, wag levels, performance criteria, workplace ergonomics, and health and safety.

Chris Hudson is a full-time official of the CWU with special responsibility for organizing the communications industry, and has developed a strong and active recruitment team with notable successes in organizing workers in call centres. He has responsibility for the development of teleworking and has participated in the development of a Code of Practice on Teleworking approved by the Irish Government. Chris has also participated in the ACTS project ETD and the Leonardo project TELEMET.
